Concept Sketches
Parti

For the concept of the apartment, I focused on my childhood backyard as a sign of home. The backyard was always a place of freedom and movement. This is what I wanted to capture through my model and my overall design.

ADA Kitchen

This is the perspective from the previous drafted drawings. In the perspective one can see that the counter-top has been lowered to 32 in. so that it is wheelchair accessible. The sink also is roll under for a wheelchair and there is a scald guard so that the client will not burn themselves on the hot pipes. The oven also opens to the side so that the client is able to access the oven and not have an awkward reach. The cabinets have also been lowered from the ceiling so that the client has an easier reach. The floor is also linoleum which is easy to clean and very durable.

ADA Bathroom
This bathroom bird’s eye perspective is of an accessible bathroom. This bathroom features a roll under sink that allows the client in a wheelchair to be able to access it. There is also a towel rack on the side of the sink so that he has an easy reach to it. The toilet and shower seat are also left loading because the client is stronger in their left arm. There is then cabinets next to the toilet with space on top for linens. The shower also has just a curtain for privacy and no glass or other barriers so there is easy access to it.
